LF Energy Event Speaking Proposal Deadlines Approaching
Dan Brown
Hello LF Energy Project Communities, We want to ensure all your projects are represented at our upcoming events, so need to remind you to please submit speaking proposals ASAP. You do not want your project to be the one left out from being highlighted at these events. LF Energy Embedded Summit (June 30 in Prague) will gather embedded developers with stakeholders from the energy sector for a discussion of how IoT and other hardware can accelerate the energy transition and drive decarbonization. Sessions do not have to focus 100% on hardware, as long as there is an embedded/IoT/hardware component to what your project does that would qualify. This is a great opportunity to get LF Energy projects in front of thousands of embedded developers who will be essential to building the hardware necessary to transition power systems globally. The deadline to apply is this Sunday, Feb 12, at https://events.linuxfoundation.org/embedded-open-source-summit/about/lf-energy-embedded-summit/. LF Energy Summit (June 1-2 in Paris) will gather members of the LF Energy community including foundation members, developers, vendors, utility end users and other energy industry stakeholders to learn about LF Energy and its projects as well as to collaborate and share best practices for developing and implementing open source technologies and standards in the power sector. This is an opportunity to introduce your project to other LF Energy project communities. We guarantee projects are going to find synergies and ways to work together for mutual benefit, so you do not want your project to be the one that is left out. The deadline to apply is next Friday, Feb 17, at https://events.linuxfoundation.org/lfenergysummit/program/cfp/. If for some reason your project community needs more time to prepare a proposal, please contact me ASAP. Since these are our events I can get some flexibility from the LF events team but we need to know that now. Thank you and I look forward to seeing your proposals and final presentations! |

Re: Generating two-parameter models with EEmeter
Phil Ngo
Hi Ethan! This line shows how you might add a two-parameter model candidate - you'd have to tweak this formula and add another function to generate the model candidate:I'll point you to the code here - unfortunately this is baked in. It wouldn't be too tricky to add, though- happy to review a pull request. This line shows the candidate model selection - you'd need to make sure the candidates included your two-parameter models: https://github.com/openeemeter/eemeter/blob/2f99fdada349f2f5090089e534d8137ee6a82431/eemeter/caltrack/usage_per_day.py#L1844 https://github.com/openeemeter/eemeter/blob/2f99fdada349f2f5090089e534d8137ee6a82431/eemeter/caltrack/usage_per_day.py#L1460 On Tue, Jul 5, 2022 at 2:11 PM Ethan Goldman <ethan.goldman@...> wrote: Here's a question (or perhaps a feature request) for others who might be using EEmeter for gas meter modeling: there is a flag to force EEmeter to ignore cooling energy (fit_hdd_only), but can you force it to generate a "two-parameter" model with just slope and intercept? -- Phil Ngo (he/him) VP of Engineering 801.244.9860 • LinkedIn Recurve.com • Newsletter • LinkedIn • AngelList • Twitter |

Generating two-parameter models with EEmeter
Here's a question (or perhaps a feature request) for others who might be using EEmeter for gas meter modeling: there is a flag to force EEmeter to ignore cooling energy (fit_hdd_only), but can you force it to generate a "two-parameter" model with just slope and intercept?
Here I mean a more traditional X-intercept, not a base load. For background, I'm modeling run-time data from a gas furnace (metering the gas solenoid valve), so I'm quite sure there is no non-heating "base" load represented in my data! (I'm using eemeter v.3.1.0, FWIW) Currently, EEmeter is giving me a model that adds about 20% more energy in the annual base load to a typical heating season for this area. It's also likely picking the wrong balance point, might be skewing the slope a bit, and (most importantly) doesn't actually produce a model that matches the physical reality of the data. I realize this is a bit of an edge case since I'm technically modeling sub-meter data, but it's pure HVAC and definitely weather-dependent, so it seemed like a reasonably good fit for EEmeter. Does anyone have an easy fix, or would I need to add some new functionality to the code to get this behavior to work? Thanks, Ethan |

Re: Instantaneous current and voltage measurements
Phil Ngo
Hi Ben, If in the future you would like to build models of building energy usage based on temperature and or time of day, the OpenEEmeter will definitely be able to help!If I'm understanding correctly, it doesn't sound to me like the OpenEEmeter will be a good fit for that application. The OpenEEmeter is not generally used directly on IoT devices and works with hourly energy usage data (e.g., kWh, Therms), not yet with current or voltage data, and not yet with data sampled at rates higher than hourly. Thanks for reaching out and best wishes with your project. On Wed, Dec 30, 2020 at 1:48 PM <benpayeur@...> wrote:

Instantaneous current and voltage measurements
Hello All,
I'm new here and trying to get some background about OpenEEmeter. I am looking for something that will facilitate the collection of instantaneous current and voltage measurements at a reasonably high sampling rate. The purpose of doing this is for microgrid research at a university. Is OpenEEmeter appropriate for this application? Are there examples of common hardware platforms that OpenEEmeter is run on? Any advice or direction that the group is willing to give is greatly appreciated! -Ben |
