Proposed Architecture (resend)

My comment below in black and tentative goal added.

Tentative goal:
  • 1 hour to 1 day local power balancing for around 10 houses
  • 1 week local balancing for 100 houses
  • Seasonal power balance adjustment by utilizing several microgrid
  • An electricity-based lifestyle that makes you aware of the food stockpile of the refrigerator

Dear Shuli and James,

I summarized my proposal.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In scope:
  • Define main-grid connected Microgrid control mechanism
Is this is the mechanism for the microgrid to coordinate with the utility grid, or for how the microgrid operates internally? Should do both, no? For the internal MG system, the grid looks like just another (somewhat special) resource. (Yes)
  • Entity in the microgrid are generators and loads (including storage, which is both at different times) (Agree but if you have storage it’s a nano-grid or small microgrid)
Isn't there a third type of entity that is a 'grid controller' box? There’s the controller and the controlled. Is this distinction useful?
  • Exchange power between microgrid to microgrid and main-grid
Is this to be special to microgrids, or is the mechanism to be the one used by any customer of the utility grid? Only difference between MG and any other grid user is the ability to island, right? Don’t we want an architecture that’s generalizable to all grid users?(Island mode is equal the zero power generator or high impedance load when main grid is alive)
  • Do not conflict with main-grid control parameters such as voltage and frequency

Out of scope
  • Inter-entity control within the microgrid (It’s depend on the device manufacture)
This would cover the behavior of loads and of generators? I think you mean “intra-entity” correct? (I meant this is a intra-microgrid)

Hardware architecture
  • Introducing microgrid configuration inverter between main-grid and microgrid
  • Utilize smart meter for power measurement
  • Set edge device to communicate with inverter smart meter and Hyphae or DSO
Other than a transfer switch to electrically separate the microgrid from the grid, are there any differences between Hyphae and a non-microgrid customer? (If you use transfer switch, on the connected mode current must be controlled between main-grid and microgrid side. In this case Hyphae could be smart-grid controller)
