LF Energy Event Speaking Proposal Deadlines Approaching
Dan Brown
Hello LF Energy Project Communities, We want to ensure all your projects are represented at our upcoming events, so need to remind you to please submit speaking proposals ASAP. You do not want your project to be the one left out from being highlighted at these events. LF Energy Embedded Summit (June 30 in Prague) will gather embedded developers with stakeholders from the energy sector for a discussion of how IoT and other hardware can accelerate the energy transition and drive decarbonization. Sessions do not have to focus 100% on hardware, as long as there is an embedded/IoT/hardware component to what your project does that would qualify. This is a great opportunity to get LF Energy projects in front of thousands of embedded developers who will be essential to building the hardware necessary to transition power systems globally. The deadline to apply is this Sunday, Feb 12, at https://events.linuxfoundation.org/embedded-open-source-summit/about/lf-energy-embedded-summit/. LF Energy Summit (June 1-2 in Paris) will gather members of the LF Energy community including foundation members, developers, vendors, utility end users and other energy industry stakeholders to learn about LF Energy and its projects as well as to collaborate and share best practices for developing and implementing open source technologies and standards in the power sector. This is an opportunity to introduce your project to other LF Energy project communities. We guarantee projects are going to find synergies and ways to work together for mutual benefit, so you do not want your project to be the one that is left out. The deadline to apply is next Friday, Feb 17, at https://events.linuxfoundation.org/lfenergysummit/program/cfp/. If for some reason your project community needs more time to prepare a proposal, please contact me ASAP. Since these are our events I can get some flexibility from the LF events team but we need to know that now. Thank you and I look forward to seeing your proposals and final presentations! |

Hello Dan,
We’ve already submitted several abstract for the following conferences :
LF Energy Embedded Summit :
First Abstract : The energy sector is following the telecommunications field by moving towards virtualization for increased flexibility
and cost reduction. This leads to an IT/OT convergence where critical applications, previously hosted on specific hardware, become virtual machines. However, these applications require high availability, real-time performance, and cybersecurity.
Second Abstract:
Not finished yet, will be very technical on very specific points.
Open Source Summit North America:
To improve the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid, there is a need to simplify the connection process,
which currently takes place at substations. These substations play a crucial role in the intelligence of the grid, but their functions are limited in terms of evolvability due to hardware constraints. The virtualization of these systems can enhance their adaptability
and increase evolvability, but they remain critical real-time systems that require precise data acquisition with a precision of 100 microseconds and a response time within a few milliseconds, along with a high level of availability.
Open Source Summit Paris (deadline this Friday):
Still under discussion we will propose at least one demo and 2 abstracts
Best Regards,

Hi Dan,
For you information we have submitted an abstract for a demo/presentation for the LF_ENERGY summit in Paris. @Éloi Bail/@Mathieu Dupré could you confirm that you’ve also submitted at least on article related to SEAPATH and virtualization ?
Please find below the abstract:
Use Case: Virtual IED over SEAPATH with IEC61850 To successfully achieve de deployment of renewable energy sources and particularly the offshore parts. The deployment of the control in digital substation must be accelerate and be more flexible. Virtualization, the IT/OT convergence and the IEC61850 standard offer great opportunities about this challenge. However how to guarantee that they won’t be any vendor locking that prevent to install application from vendor A on the virtualization platform of vendor B? In a utility point of view, how to avoid having different platform from different vendor to support? Therefore, the project SEAPATH was launch under the LF energy umbrella. It aims to supply all the configuration tools to build an industrial grade virtualized platform that can host real-time applications in VM. This presentation will present a business use case that show how a virtual IED that communicate with the language of the IEC61850 standard (Intelligent Electronic Device) can be deploy and tested Best Regards,
Aurélien,
